Behind the Scenes: How Viatous Protects Competition Fairness
How it works · Équipe Viatous · 5 min
The fairness of a competition depends on clear rules that apply consistently to participants. On Viatous, the challenge, time limits, ranking and checks are defined to structure each entry precisely.
1. A challenge defined in advance
Each entry gives access to a challenge made up of several stages: tapping the displayed bubbles, tracing the requested path, and then answering a general knowledge question.
The time limits for the course and the question are defined in advance. The time used for the course and the answer are then added together to determine the entry's total time.
2. Only correct answers are ranked
Speed alone is not enough. To be ranked, an entry must complete the challenge and answer the question correctly within the applicable time limits.
Entries that do not produce an eligible result are not included among the ranked correct answers.
3. Ranking based on total time
After the competition closes, eligible entries are ranked according to their total time. The entry with the best time among the correct answers wins the product, subject to the checks provided for in the competition rules.
If two entries achieve the same time, the entry recorded first takes priority. If the tie remains, the entry numbers are used to determine the ranking.
4. A structured closing period
When new entries stop being accepted, a period of at least 30 minutes takes place before results are finalised. This allows existing eligible entries to complete their challenge under the applicable conditions.
Once the results are finalised, it is no longer possible to start or resume a challenge.
5. Controls against abuse
Viatous prohibits false identities, attempts to bypass entry limits, the use of bots or automated assistants, and any manipulation of answers or results.
Security checks may be required before access to the challenge, and Viatous may review entries when abuse or fraud is suspected.
6. Results that can be checked
Participants can view the status of their entry and the verification information made available on the “Verify my entry” page.
Results are retained so they can be checked and reviewed in the event of a complaint.
Fairness through precise rules
On Viatous, fairness therefore relies on a defined framework: the same challenge principle, structured time limits, ranking by total time, tie-breaking rules and controls against abuse.
